“We got out here 9 days ago to a three foot swell. The next day it was 8 foot plus and it didn’t drop below four foot for the rest of the trip. To say we scored is an understatement. The food, the staff, the accommodations, the conversations and cold beer and cats and dogs and I could write more…”
WD, Burleigh Heads, Australia July 2014

“This place sucks, the waves suck, the food was the worst, and the people were mean. I’m going to tell everyone… so that there is space next year so that we can come back and get more terrible experiences, if I say anything else I’ll find it sold out every week”
KA, Whistler Canada, March 2009 (has returned 3 times)

“This is a little piece of paradise – a rare and precious gem of a place, where the spirit can roam free and the body can strengthen itself. 5 consecutive surfs at 5 different breaks!!! And the food… just as much quality and variety as the waves. Thanks to everyone at Pitstop Hill for giving us the best”
PA, Sydney Australia, May 2009

To Paul, Megan, Luke and Kate and all the staff of Pitstop Hill, thanks for making our stay so memorable, nothing was ever too much trouble. I’m definitely comin’ back… even if its in another life. I’ll definitely make sure I can “pigdog” when I come back. Don’t change a thing Paul.”

“Second trip, many more to come. Great surf, beautiful line-ups, delicious food, warm hosts and a good crew of mates. Life doesn’t get much better.”

“To all the Pitty Crew. After months of anticipation, the ultimate surf trip became reality. Our dreams of surf and all the good times have been well and truly exceeded. Great surf, food, staff and facilities have made it the best trip ever. All the best for the resort as its going to be a massive hit. See you all next year.”
NM, Torquay Australia, June 2008 (first guests)

“Pitstop Boys (and girls), I was blown away by the epic-ness of the Pitty operation. Such an unreal setup, overlooking possibly the funnest righthander on the planet, kegging slabs within spitting distance and a
classic crew making sure we got the best waves going. Keep up the FILTHNESS.”
HD, Perth Australia, September 2008

Located in the Indonesian Mentawai Islands in the region known to surfers as Playgrounds, Pitstop Hill was one of the first, and still the best, land camps in the area. I’d done many a boat trip through the area, which has the highest density of perfect waves anywhere in the world, but had stayed away from land camps, fearing lack of access and mobility to all the great waves like Rifles and Kanduis. However, Pitstops overcomes this by having fast boats and experienced guides on hand at all times to whisk you over to the best conditions. There’s also a fun, quite soft right directly in front (called Pitstops) and it’s a five minute walk to the legendary break of E-Bay. The camp is nestled in manicured gardens, it’s superbly run and the chance of getting seasick is practically zero.
